With its biannual grant foundation, the Glazer Family Foundation has helped countless charitable organizations in West Central Florida achieve their goals in assisting youth and families in need. With summer approaching, it is time to identify another group of worthy associations to participate in the program.

Last year, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved their training camp back to the team's state-of-the-art headquarters, and that gave the Foundation a perfect opportunity to connect with some of the area's most community-minded folks. On a special day during the 2009 camp, representatives from six local nonprofit organizations were invited to the team's facility for an exclusive opportunity to watch practice, meet with Glazer Family Foundation representatives and receive a much-needed financial donation to assist their philanthropic efforts.

Training camp returns to One Buccaneer Place in 2010, and so does the Foundation's summer grant cycle. Applications are now being accepted for this upcoming cycle. For more information, please visit the Glazer Family Foundation web site.

The Glazer Family Foundation awards grants each summer and winter to West Central Florida programs focused on the health, safety, recreation and education of disadvantaged youth. Since its inception, the Foundation has assisted charitable and educational programs in the region that work with children and families to create positive social and economic development within the community. For over 10 years, the Foundation has donated millions of dollars in grants, tickets and merchandise throughout the Tampa Bay area.

"The Glazer Family Foundation is committed to providing Florida's youth and families with opportunities to build a stronger community," said Foundation Co-President Darcie Glazer Kassewitz. "The Foundation's impact would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of these organizations. Their selfless efforts deliver the Foundation's mission of enhancing the lives of youth and families throughout Central Florida, and we are proud to support them in their endeavors to give back to those less fortunate."

In 2009, the following 12 nonprofit organizations received grants through the biannual program:

• Alliance for Neighbors

• Amen Outreach Ministry

• Community Action Stops Abuse

• Children's Home Society of Florida

• Connected By 25 Initiative

• Family Promise of Sarasota

• Girl Scouts of Citrus Council

• Harbor House of Central Florida

• Healthy Start Coalition of Hardee, Highlands and Polk Counties

• Rescue Outreach Mission of Sanford

• The Junior League of Tampa

• Voices for Children of Hillsborough County

The deadline to submit an application for a Glazer Family Foundation summer grant is June 1, 2010.
