The She is Football Scholarship is part of the Buccaneers' commitment to growing the game of football and investing in the next generation of female leaders. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation hosts the largest girls flag football tournament in the country with the Girls High School Flag Football Preseason Classic, a multi-day event that brings together more than 100 high school teams and nearly 3,000 student athletes in a round robin-style competition.
The Buccaneers will also host their inaugural She is Football Weekend, presented by Jabil, this year. The new flagship event is set to take place on Friday, March 7, and on International Women's Day, Saturday, March 8, with the She is Football Girls Flag Football Tournament taking place across both days featuring eight of Florida's top high schools. The weekend will also include a women's career summit headlined by Erin Andrews & Charissa Thompson, a 5K run, walk & stroll and a market that showcases women-owned businesses.
In addition, the team has established the Jr. Bucs Girls Flag Football League, a first-of-its-kind league in the City of Tampa, where the Foundation covers league fees and equipment for girls at 24 Tampa Parks and Recreation centers. Additionally, the team created the Jr. Bucs Flag Football Program, which grows the game of football in more than 90 Tampa Bay middle schools and supports over 35,000 female students every year.
