For more than a dozen years, the Glazer Family Foundation's "Cheering You On!" program has been bringing comfort and a measure of control to boys and girls at pediatric hospitals in the Central Florida area.
The comfort has come in the soft and fuzzy package of a teddy bear dressed in either a red Tampa Bay Buccaneers' outfit or a pink Bucs Cheerleader uniform, and until now those little friends have simply been known as the "Cheering You On!" bears.
Not anymore. By this weekend, both the male and female teddy bears of the long-running GFF initiative will have names befitting the feelings of fun and familiarity they bring to children facing a potentially frightening environment.
And the best part? You and your children can help decide what those names will be, and potentially win a very exciting prize in the process.
The Glazer Family Foundation's Name the Bears Sweepstakes, which began in June, is in its final week. During the summer, Buccaneer fans and their families began the process by nominating potential names. Five name finalists for each bear were eventually selected, and since September 1 families have been taking part in the second stage of the Sweepstakes: Voting on the final selections.

The Name the Bears Sweepstakes will not only provide the iconic GFF bears with new names, but also send 10 lucky winners on a VIP experience at an upcoming Buccaneers home game. Fans can become eligible for one of the 10 prizes simply by casting a vote before the balloting ends on Friday.
Sweepstakes entrants do NOT have to vote for either of the names that are eventually chosen in order to be eligible for a prize. Rather, five winners will be chosen at random from among all individuals who cast a vote. Another five winners will be chosen at random from among all individuals who submitted a name suggestion prior to the final vote.
The VIP experience consists of the following:
- Four tickets to a 2011 Buccaneers home game;
- A parking pass to the same game;
- A VIP pregame on-field photo;
- And a meet-and-greet with the Buccaneers Cheerleaders.
The five potential names for the girl teddy bear are: Pom Pom, Twinkles, Sparkles, Honey and Lola.
The five potential names for the boy teddy bear are: Buckles, Patches, Baxter, Lucky and Huddles.
