Each year, the Glazer Family Foundation works with local charitable organizations to make a lasting impact in the community. Two of the Foundation's more popular programs, "Buc-Packs for Back-to-School" and "Gameday for Kids," are currently accepting applications… but time is running out!
All interested nonprofit organizations must submit applications on the Glazer Family Foundation website by THIS FRIDAY, July 1.
Every summer, the "Buc-Packs for Back-to-School" program provides Buccaneers backpacks filled with school supplies to children throughout Central Florida. In 2010, children from 48 community groups received a total of 3,300 backpacks during the team's training camp at One Buccaneer Place. After receiving backpacks, the children were invited to watch the Buccaneers practice before participating in their own on-field football drills. To date, almost 20,000 bags have been given away to charities throughout the region.
"Gameday for Kids" is among the Foundation's longest-running community endeavors and is designed to encourage children to achieve their goals through incentive programs run by community agencies. The Foundation helps local organizations achieve this by providing tickets to Buccaneers home games as rewards for the kids' accomplishments in various programs.
The Glazer Family Foundation hosts 100 youth at each Buccaneers home game. Since the program's inception, more than 11,000 children representing in excess of 100 organizations from the Bay area have been rewarded for academic achievement and positive behavior with free game tickets, food vouchers and car flags.
The Glazer Family Foundation accepts applications for "Buc-Packs for Back-to-School" and "Gameday for Kids" from community organizations with 501(c)(3) status. Interested organizations should note that the application for "Gameday for Kids" requires a detailed explanation of how the tickets will be used as incentive.
Founded in 1999, the Glazer Family Foundation assists charitable and educational programs in the Central Florida region that work with youth and families to create positive social and economic development within the community. Since its launch, the Foundation has donated millions of dollars in grants, tickets and merchandise throughout the Tampa Bay area. Most recently, the Foundation donated $5 million toward the construction of a new children's museum in downtown Tampa, which opened on September 25, 2010 and is named the Glazer Children's Museum.
