WHAT: Safety John Lynch will attend the youth football jamboree and field dedication ceremony at the North Tampa Boys & Girls Club located at 2313 Yukon Street near Busch Boulevard and 22nd Street. The jamboree, which will involve all 16 area Boys & Girls Club teams, will mark the first game that will be played at the North Tampa club since the football field was completely refurbished through the NFL Community Football Fields Program.
The NFL Community Football Fields Program is a joint effort of the National Football League and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) to provide non-profit, neighborhood-based organizations with financing and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety and accessibility of local ball fields and parks. The North Tampa Boys & Girls Club field was one of just 16 football fields across the country that was refurbished through the program.
With NFL Charities$75,000 donation, the club
s football complex received new P.A., lighting and irrigation systems, and Coke donated a new scoreboard. The field itself was completely redesigned by Turf Keepers, Inc., the same company that created the Raymond James Stadium field, and was intended to give kids the experience of playing on an NFL field. The playing surface was upgraded to NFL regulation size and now has a soft base that will help prevent injuries.
