On Tuesday, December 13 at 10:00 a.m., as part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Bucs for a Better Bay initiative, Glazer Family Foundation Co-President Darcie Glazer Kassewitz and quarterback Jameis Winston will host a Buccaneers Academy Educational Huddle at Curtis Hixon Park in Tampa for 100 underserved students. The participating children all attend Buccaneers Academy schools – 24 Hillsborough County schools adopted by the Buccaneers through a curriculum-based program that engages students and encourages learning. A majority of the schools are located in economically-distressed areas that lack some of the resources important to educational success.

As the "Quarterback" of Buccaneers Academies dedicated to helping youth reach their full academic potential, Winston will speak to the students about the importance of schoolwork, determination, and accomplishing one's goals. Following Winston's message, he will also lead students through PLAY 60 drills – an example of the Buccaneers Academy Player Experience carried out by members of the team throughout the season.

In addition to Winston's "huddle" with students, Glazer Kassewitz will be in attendance supporting the organization's long-standing commitment to Hillsborough County students and school administrators. As part of the day's student-focused program, the Glazer Family Foundation Vision Mobile will also be on hand providing screenings and presenting select students in need of vision assistance with brand new, free prescription glasses. To date, the program has provided vision screenings to more than 66,000 students and distributed more than 9,100 free prescription glasses.

Tuesday's event will take place on the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park lawn in front of the super-sized Buccaneers Academy shade structure recently donated by the Buccaneers. The oversized shade structure, which debuted on November 18, is a symbol of the team's passion for children and education. In addition to its use during the Tampa Downtown Partnership's Winter Village, the shade structure - which is longer (165 feet) than the width of a football field and 60 feet wide - will be available for various community-based events as well as Buccaneers Academy programming throughout the year, including the warmest summer months.
