Each year, countless volunteers help others in the Tampa Bay area by lending their time and energy to various community organizations. Some keep our community safe, others work with ill children or bring aid to the elderly and still others find specific causes that are near to their hearts. Most of them receive little acknowledgment for their community-building deeds.
In fact, few of these selfless people even seek recognition for their work. That's where you – and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – come in.
During the 2007 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will recognize people such as these as "Community Quarterbacks." Finding the right quarterback to lead your team can be difficult, however, and that's why the team is asking for your help.
Between now and Sunday, December 23, you may nominate fellow Bay area citizens for the Community Quarterback award right here on Buccaneers.com. To jump to the nomination page, please click here.
Anyone can nominate a potential Community Quarterback. Perhaps you have a neighbor, friend or relative who is a firefighter, policeman or a rescue worker, or just an everyday hero such as a teacher or community leader. Perhaps you know someone who gives of themselves tirelessly to support a cause or care for those in need. To make a nomination, simply describe in 150 words or less why your nominee is deserving of the Community Quarterback Award. Ten finalists will be chosen and one will be selected as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Community Quarterback.
The finalists will join prominent Buccaneer players for dinner by the team's executive chef at One Buccaneer Place, the team's state-of-the-art headquarters that opened in 2006, on Tuesday, January 8, 2008.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Community Quarterback awards are given annually to people who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to the community. Help us celebrate those who display a unique commitment to others and an unbreakable humanitarian spirit. Nominate your Community Quarterback now.
