Each year, the NFL sponsors a league-wide program entitled Community Quarterback that works to recognize outstanding volunteers in NFL cities across the country. In years past, NFL Charities has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to nonprofit agencies on behalf of Community Quarterback winners all around the league.
This year, the program has been revised to reflect changes in the NFL's overall volunteerism platform. Under the new program, all 32 teams are eligible to apply for grants from NFL Charities that will allow them to sponsor a recognition event for outstanding volunteers in their communities.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to recognize 10 hard-working, selfless volunteers from all over the Bay area. Nominations for Community Quarterback winners will be accepted on the Community page of Buccaneers.com. After 10 volunteers are chosen as Community Quarterbacks, they, along with a guest, will be invited to One Buccaneer Place one Friday during the month of December to watch the Buccaneers during their morning practice. After practice, the Community Quarterbacks will be treated to a barbeque at the practice fields where they will each receive an award presented by a Buccaneer player.
If you know an outstanding volunteer in the Bay area, please nominate him or her by clicking here. Nominations will be accepted until November 11, and the 10 Community Quarterbacks will be notified of their selection by the middle of that month.
The Community Quarterback program is a great way to say thank you to those who work hard to make our community a better place to live. Help the Buccaneers recognize valuable assets to our community by nominating a volunteer today!
