Lakeland High School Head Coach Bill Castle was honored as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers High School Football Coach of the Week on Wednesday, October 31 at One Buccaneer Place.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Tony Dungy congratulated Coach Castle during an award presentation Wednesday afternoon before practice at One Buccaneer Place. Castle was presented with a framed "Coach of the Week" award signed by NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, Buccaneers General Manager Rich McKay and Coach Dungy, a football autographed by Buccaneers Head Coach Tony Dungy, a $500 donation to his football program, and Buccaneers T-shirts for his staff and players.

This year, Coach Castle has led the Dreadnaughts to an 8-1 record, outscoring their opponents by a combined total of 268 to 75. The Dreadnaughts started the season by winning four straight, before losing a heartbreaker to Haines City High. Since that defeat, however, Lakeland has reeled off another four straight and looks to make it five this Friday against Kathleen High.

Coach Castle is also 2-0 against his fellow "Coach of the Week" winners this year, defeating East Bay and Coach Brian Thornton, 34-7, and Riverview and Coach Alex Albert, 21-20.

Castle was selected by a panelist of News Channel 8 and Buccaneers representatives after being nominated on the WFLA.com website.
