Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineman Paul Gruber and defensive tackle Jason Maniecki, along with members of the SwashBuclers cheerleading squad, will spend an evening interacting with families who reside at the Coalition for the Homeless in downtown Orlando on Thursday, March 18.
The Buccaneers will spend the first part of the evening interacting with the children at the Boys and Girls Club located within the Coalition, which serves as a safe place for homeless children to go while their parents are at work. Gruber and Maniecki will conduct a football clinic for the children, and the SwashBuclers will simultaneously hold a cheerleading workshop for the youth. The players and cheerleaders will distribute Buccaneer T-shirts, posters, yearbooks and stickers to the kids and will also sign autographs. The clinic will take place from 4:45 p.m. until 6:15 p.m.
Upon the conclusion of the football and cheerleading clinics, Gruber, Maniecki and the SwashBuclers will serve as celebrity servers for the Coalition for the Homeless` evening meal. Dinner will begin at approximately 6:20 p.m.
"The children who currently live at the Coalition dont have a home to go to after school," Gruber said. "They come to the Boys and Girls Club everyday and wait for their parents to return to the shelter. They don
t have the luxuries that most kids have, so we wanted to create an evening where they could have fun and not worry about their parents or their living situation for a while."
The Coalition for the Homeless is located at 639 West Central Boulevard in downtown Orlando. For more information about the Coalition, call Hillary Rowe at 407/426-1250.
