Bert Emanuel to Receive Award for Literacy Program

WHAT: Buccaneers WR Bert Emanuel will receive an award for his participation in the Family Literacy program, an effort sponsored by Hillsborough County Public Schools` Adult and Community Education department that puts an emphasis on the importance of parents reading to their children. The program creates opportunities for families to read together and teaches parents to become full partners in the education of their children.

Emanuel and his wife, Teri, hosted a group of families from the Family Literacy program at each 1998 Buccaneers home game as reward for various educational accomplishments. In order to win tickets to a Buccaneers game, Family Literacy program participants must have had a good class attendance record, demonstrated progress toward their educational goals and been actively involved in such activities as reading to their children and attending parent education classes.
