A Day in the Life of Alterraun Verner

A regular Thursday for cornerback Alterraun Verner.

6:00 AM: I get up between 6 and 6:20. I try to leave the house at least by 6:30 or 6:45. I get in my 2015 Mustang and try to beat some traffic and get to One Buc around 7:30.

7:30 AM: I get some breakfast in me to fill me up for the day. I usually eat at the scrambled omelets bar with a spinach, onion and chicken omelet. I'm trying to stay away from cheese and dairy, although I know egg is a little contradictory. Small steps, ya know.

**

8:00 AM:** We start off with a special teams meeting until 8:40, then the all-team meeting at 8:40.  I have defensive meetings from 9:00-11:30, and a walk-through is included in that.

11:30 AM: I usually go lift after our walk-through. Then I head into the locker room and speak to the media. Thursdays are my day I designate for that. Then, I'll grab some lunch before practice. I like when it's lettuce wrap or taco day. Those are my favorite. I'm starting to do a Bible study during lunch with our chaplain on Thursdays to try to improve in areas that he and I see and to get me more involved in the faith.

1:30 PM:We have practice from 1:30-3:30, which is usually more of a third-down emphasis kind of day. That means it's a lot of passing the ball and a lot more running.

**

3:30 PM**: After practice we shower up and watch the film from practice until about 4:30. After those meetings, I stay for maybe 30 more minutes to watch more film on my own about the opponent. I usually like to watch what we just worked on in practice. I don't like to do it before because I like to be surprised in practice. Then I can see what looks I got in practice and take a look at how the actual opponent runs it.

5:45 PM: I head home and am usually in traffic, so I'll get home close to 7. Once I'm home, I'll have dinner. I'll either pick it up or my wife cooks it depending on how she feels after dealing with our one-month-old and 19-month-old kids during the day. Most of the time the kids are already heading to bed so I don't get to see them much on Thursdays. I eat dinner and then, shoot, it's already almost time for me to go to sleep. So I pick between either watching a TV show or watching a little more film before heading to bed. Then I do it all over again the next day.
