The Tampa Bay Buccaneers opened the final week of the preseason with a pair of personnel moves, leaving one open spot on the 91-man roster.
First-year tight end Tanner Taula was cleared to return to practice on Monday after starting training camp on the active/non-football injury list due to a leg injury. An undrafted free agent out of Illinois State in 2023, Taula spent his rookie season on Tampa Bay's practice squad. In five seasons at ISU, he caught 63 passes for 627 yards and four touchdowns. Taula counted against the roster limit while on the active/NFI list, so his activation did not need to be accompanied by a deletion from the 91-man list.
However, the Buccaneers did open up a roster spot on Monday, as well, waiving second-year defensive lineman Eric Banks with an injury designation. Banks played 11 defensive snaps in the team's preseason opener at Cincinnati but did not participate in Saturday's game in Jacksonville. He has previously spent time with the Rams, Chargers, Lions and Cardinals, getting into two games for Arizona last season.
