When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially announced their first practice squad signings of the 2024 season on Thursday morning, they were one short of the limit. Now that final spot has been filled.
Later on Thursday, the Buccaneers signed rookie quarterback Michael Pratt, who had been waived by the Green Bay on Tuesday, to that 17-man unit. The Packers selected Pratt in the seventh round of this year's draft (245th overall) out of Tulane.
Pratt replaces John Wolford as the third quarterback on the Bucs' roster/practice squad combination. He saw action in all three preseason games for the Packers, completing 23 of 35 passes for 178 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Pratt played four seasons at Tulane and amassed career totals of 729 completions in 1,203 attempts for 9,602 yards, 90 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. He was the AAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2023.
The Buccaneers are allowed to carry 17 players on the practice this season because tackle Lorenz Metz carries a roster exemption from the NFL's International Player Pathway program.
