The Tampa Bay Buccaneers dropped a 26-7 decision to the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium, and it was a rough game all around. After a very encouraging 2-0 start that included a rousing win in Detroit in Week Two, the Buccaneers did little to build on in Week Three.
"There [are] a lot of things to be disappointed about," said Head Coach Todd Bowles after the game. "I mean, we can coach it better, we can play it better. We didn't move the ball on offense, we didn't stop them on defense well enough, and we didn't do anything special on special teams to make a difference, so it's a complete team collapse, a complete team loss."
Still, every game produces data and there were some notes of interest coming out of Sunday's contest. For instance, Denver's two touchdowns came on runs of three yards by quarterback Bo Nix and one yard by running back Jaleel McLaughlin, which means the Buccaneers have still not surrendered a passing touchdown this season. Through the first three weeks of the season, the Buccaneers are the only team that has yet to allow a touchdown pass.
Tampa Bay's defense did not allow a touchdown pass in the 2023 season finale, either (thanks in large part to one man), so the team's overall streak in that department is four games. That's just one game shy of the team record.

Thanks to the Philadelphia Eagles' comeback win in New Orleans on Sunday, the Bucs remain tied with the Saints for first place in the NFC South, with both teams sitting at 2-1. Tampa Bay has now had at least a share of first place in the division for 46 of the last 54 weeks in the regular season. The Buccaneers are seeking a fourth straight NFC South title.
The Bucs' lone touchdown in Sunday's loss came on a five-yard pass from Baker Mayfield to Chris Godwin in the second quarter. Godwin has now caught a touchdown pass in each of the Bucs' first three games of the season. This is the second time in his career that Godwin has achieved that feat, also scoring in each of the first three games of the 2018 season. Godwin joins Minnesota's duo of Justin Jefferson and Jalen Nailor as the only players in the NFL who have caught a touchdown pass in each of the first three weeks of the 2024 season.
There have now been six instances of a Tampa Bay receiver scoring in at least the first three games of the season, and all six were recorded by either Godwin or his teammate, Mike Evans. Evans did it in 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2023, with his 2020 streak actually extending to five games.
In addition to being tied for the NFL lead in touchdown receptions with seven other players, Godwin also ranks seventh in receiving yards with 253 (not including Monday night's two games).
Mayfield completed 25 of 33 passes for 163 yards, giving him a completion rate of 75.8%, which is the fourth-highest percentage he has posted in a single game in his career with a minimum of 30 passes. After three weeks, Mayfield is tied for second in the NFL with six touchdown passes and ranks fourth in passer rating.

Tight end Cade Otton, who had just one catch through the first two games of the season, hauled in a career-high seven passes against the Broncos, resulting in 47 yards.
Rookie running back Bucky Irving led the Buccaneers with 70 rushing yards on just nine carries, including a 32-yard jaunt on the Bucs' lone scoring drive. Irving now has two carries of 30-plus yards in just three career NFL games. He leads Tampa Bay on the season with 154 rushing yards on 25 carries, for an average of 6.2 yards per tote. That's the third highest rushing average in the NFL among all qualifying running backs.

The Buccaneers' touchdown drive was set up by a Logan Hall fumble recovery after Lavonte David poked the ball out of the hands of Broncos running back Javonte Williams in the second quarter. That was the 29th forced fumble of David's career and he ranks second among all active players in that category.
