The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, 28-13, to move back into sole possession of first place in the NFC South. The Buccaneers scored touchdowns on their first two possessions and last two possessions of the game and held the Raiders to 286 total yards and only three points after halftime.
The victory was Tampa Bay's first against an AFC opponent this season. It also gave the Buccaneers their first three-game winning streak of 2024, all since the team enjoyed its Week 11 bye. The last two wins have come in the month of December and have only added to the Buccaneers' recent success in that month. Since 2020, when Tampa Bay began a streak of (so far) four straight playoff seasons, the team is tied for second among all NFL teams in wins in the month of December and tied for third in winning percentage.

It marked the sixth time this season he has thrown for three or more touchdowns in a game and he is tied for third in the NFL in that category overall. Two of Mayfield's three touchdown passes were caught by rookie wide receiver Jalen McMillan, the first scores for McMillan since Week One. McMillan is the first Tampa Bay rookie to catch two touchdown passes in a game since tight end O.J. Howard did so against Buffalo on October 22, 2017. The last rookie wideout to do so for the Buccaneers was Mike Evans, who accomplished that feat three times in his 2014 debut season. Incidentally Evans played in his 164th game as a Buccaneer on Sunday, tying Hall of Fame safety John Lynch for the sixth most games played in franchise history.
Running back Rachaad White had the Buccaneers' other two touchdowns, scoring on a five-yard pass in the first quarter and a three-yard run in the fourth quarter. In Week Six, Tampa Bay running back Sean Tucker also scored on both a run and a catch in the Buccaneers Week Six win at New Orleans. The Buccaneers and the Jets (Breece Hall and Braelon Allen) are the only teams to have two different backs accomplish that feat this season. White and San Francisco's Christian McCaffrey are the only players in the NFL to have at least 10 rushing touchdowns and at least 10 receiving touchdowns since the start of the 2022 season.
White's two touchdowns gave him eight on the season and made him the team's leader in that category. Five of those eight are receiving touchdowns, giving him 10 in his career. That moves him past Warrick Dunn and James Wilder into sole possession of second place in franchise history in that category among running backs. The only Buccaneer back with more career touchdown catches is Mike Alstott, with 13.
With the team's leading rusher, Bucky Irving, sidelined after just four carries with a back injury on Sunday, White took the lead in a rushing attack that churned for 152 yards on 26 carries, averaging 5.8 yards per tote. White had 90 yards on 17 carries while Tucker added 47 on three runs. The Buccaneers have run for 150-plus yards in each of their last three games, tying for the longest such streak in franchise history. The 1986 team also surpassed 150 rushing yards in Weeks Three through Five.
White's touchdown run against Las Vegas was the 14th of the season for the Buccaneers. That is more rushing touchdowns than the Buccaneers had scored in the 2022 (five) and 2023 (eight) seasons combined.
The Buccaneers are averaging 138.3 rushing yards per game, which ranks eighth in the NFL, and 5.14 yards per carry, which ranks fourth, representing a massive improvement in that part of the game. In both 2022 and 2023, Tampa Bay ranked 32nd in both of those categories. The Buccaneers' per-carry average is the best it has ever posted through the first 13 games of the season. The team's full-season record in that category is 4.75, set in 2015.

Lavonte David, the Buccaneers' 13th-year linebacker, continued to add to his Hall-of-Fame caliber career statistics in Sunday's game. He tied for the team lead with seven tackles and added a sack and a fumble recovery. David's sack, which ended Washington's first drive, gave him 37.5 in his career and put him just 1.5 behind David Logan for sixth place in franchise history. David also increased his fumble recovery total to 19, which is the most among all NFL defenders since he entered the NFL in 2012.

Rookie safety Tykee Smith, returning to action after missing three games with a knee injury, had the Buccaneers' other takeaway against Las Vegas. His interception at the Tampa Bay seven-yard line ended a Raiders drive that had consumed the first 10 minutes and 20 seconds of the second half. It was his second interception of the season, to go along with a team-high three forced fumbles. Smith joins Atlanta safety Jessie Bates and San Francisco linebacker Fred Warner, both 2023 Pro Bowl selections, as the only players in the NFL with two or more interceptions and three or more forced fumbles this season.
