The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered their third straight defeat on Monday night in Kansas City, and for the second time this season they took a loss in overtime without touching the ball on offense in the extra period. Patrick Mahomes directed a 70-yard touchdown drive to give the undefeated Chiefs a 30-24 win after the home team won the coin toss in overtime.

Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield had tied the game in the final 30 seconds of regulation with a one-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Ryan Miller, the first score of Miller's career. Miller also threw an 11-yard scoring strike to tight end Cade Otton in the third quarter to give Tampa Bay a 14-10 lead. Mayfield's two touchdown passes increased his season total to 23, which through nine games is already just five shy of the career-high 28 he tossed last year. Since joining the Buccaneers in 2023, Mayfield has connected on 51 touchdown passes in 26 games. He continues to lead the NFL in that category in 2024.
