BUCCANEERS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today signed defensive back and 2024 NFL Draft selection Tykee Smith. The club has now signed four of its seven draft selections.

Smith (5-10, 205) was selected by the Buccaneers in the third round (No. 89 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. He spent his collegiate career at West Virginia University (2019-20) and the University of Georgia (2021-23), appearing in 50 career games and recording 212 tackles (21.5 for loss), 12 passes defensed, eight interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 5.0 sacks and two forced fumbles. The two-time College Football Playoff National Champion received PFWA freshman All-America honors in 2019, third-team All-America and second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2020 and second-team All-SEC honors in 2023. The Philadelphia native wears No. 23 for Tampa Bay.

In addition, the Buccaneers signed defensive lineman Earnest Brown and waived running back Patrick Laird.

Brown (6-5, 300) originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round selection (No. 174 overall) by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 12 career games for the Rams, making three starts and logging 14 tackles (one for loss). The Aubrey, Texas, native played collegiately at Northwestern University (2017-20), appearing in 40 career games and recording 70 tackles (18.5 for loss), nine passes defensed, 7.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.
