The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing on into the postseason, which means midweek roster maneuverings will continue, as well. On Wednesday, the Buccaneers designated cornerback Troy Hill for return from injured reserve and signed defensive tackle Adam Gotsis to the practice squad.

Hill originally signed with the Buccaneers on October 30, first joining the practice squad before being promoted to the active roster on November 18. He appeared briefly in two games, playing on special teams, before suffering foot and knee injuries and landing on injured reserve on December 6. He has since missed five games, one more than the required minimum stay on I.R.

Hill will return to practice with the Buccaneers on Wednesday, beginning a 21-day window in which he can work out with the team without counting against the 53-man roster limit. He can be activated at any time during those three weeks, though a spot would have to be cleared on the active roster in order for the team to make that move. Hill could potentially be activated before Sunday's Wild Card round game against the Washington Commanders.

Originally an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2015, Hill has also played for the Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers, seeing action in 121 games with 60 starts. Over five seasons with the Rams he logged 51 starts and recorded eight interceptions and 33 passes defensed. In 2020, Hill started all 16 games and recorded three interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns.

Overall, Hill has amassed 414 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, nine interceptions for 198 yards and three touchdowns, 41 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

Gotsis most recently played five games for the Indianapolis Colts in September and December, contributing eight tackles and two quarterback hits. Originally a second-round draft pick by Denver in 2016, he played four seasons for the Broncos and another four with the Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the Colts in September.

Gotsis has appeared in 126 games with 54 starts, including seven starts in 17 outings for the Jaguars last year. He has recorded 226 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 43 quarterback hits, 25 tackles for loss, 22 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
