The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed outside linebacker on injured reserve and wide receiver Cody Thompson on the practice squad injured list on Monday after both suffered injuries in last Thursday's game in Atlanta. Watts has a quad tear and Thompson has a shoulder ailment.

The Buccaneers also re-signed wide receiver Tanner Knue to their practice squad. After that round of moves and some others made last Tuesday, the team was left with one open spot on the both the 53-man roster and the 16-man practice squad.

Watts has played in all five games as an occasional part of the edge rush rotation and a frequent special teams performer, logging 10 snaps on defense and 45 on special teams. Last year, Watts made the Bucs' active roster as an undrafted rookie and appeared in seven games, contributing four tackles and one sack. He will have to remain on injured reserve for a minimum of four games before being eligible to return to the active roster.

Thompson went to training camp with the Buccaneers and landed a post on the practice squad to start the season. He was a game day elevation in Week Five and he logged three special teams snaps before suffering his injury. Thompson returned one kickoff for 21 yards. He previously appeared in a total of 12 games for the Seattle Seahawks across the 2021 and 2023 seasons.

Knue joined the Bucs in May as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Michigan. He played in all three preseason games and snared nine passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. He also returned three punts for 32 yards and two kickoffs for 50 yards.
