The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced 38 roster moves on Tuesday, in the process trimming their numbers to the regular-season limit of 53 players before the 4:00 p.m. ET deadline.
Two of those moves were the placement of running back Chase Edmonds and wide receiver Rakim Jarrett on injured reserve, and Edmonds will miss the entire 2024 season due to a knee injury. However, unlike him and offensive linemen Silas Dzansi and Sua Opeta, who landed on injured reserve earlier this month, Jarrett is eligible to return to the Buccaneers' active roster in 2024. A new rule adopted by the NFL this year allows teams to put up to two players on I.R. on the day of the league-wide cuts and designate them for return during the season. Previously, a team would have to keep an injured player on the roster through cuts and then place him on injured reserve to retain the ability to bring him back in that same season.
Here are all the moves Tampa Bay made on Tuesday to get their roster from 80 down to 53 active spots:

All of the players the Buccaneers waived on Saturday will be subject to the waiver claim system over the next 24 hours. Those who clear will be prime candidates to return to Tampa Bay's practice squad, which can accommodate a lot of returning players with 16 spots. In the Bucs' case specifically, they can carry 17 players on the practice squad this season if they bring back tackle Lorenz Metz, a German native who carries a roster exemption thanks to the International Players Pathway Program.
As has been the case the past three seasons, game-day elevation options allows the team to utilize those players frequently throughout the season. Though some of those spots could be filled by players from other teams, the Buccaneers' initial practice squad of the season is usually made up largely of players the team cut the day before.
Vested veterans are not subject to the waiver wire and are immediately free to sign with any team after being released. The three players who were waived with an injury designation will either be claimed by another team, revert to the Bucs' roster and land on injured reserve or reach an injury settlement and become free agents.
