Evan Deckers' tenure as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' long-snapper will resume in Week 10. Deckers was activated from the Buccaneers' injured reserve list on Saturday and he will play for the first time since sustaining a hamstring injury in a Week Three game against the Denver Broncos.
To make room on the 53-man roster, the Buccaneers waived Zach Triner, who had handled the long-snapping duties during the six games that Deckers missed. Triner had been Tampa Bay's long-snapper from 2019-23 before Deckers won a training camp battle for the job this summer.
The Buccaneers opened the 21-day window on October 31 during which Deckers could practice with the team without counting against the active roster limit. He could be activated at any time during those three weeks.
Deckers split his college career between Massachusetts (2018-21) and Duke (2022), appearing in 53 total games and snapping for 218 placekicks and 272 punts. He first signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent in the spring of 2023 but was not able to unseat Triner as a rookie.
