HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES
(On if it's helpful that the team lost against the Eagles in Week 3, as they will likely present different looks on offense and defense)
"I don't think it helps you. It's late in the season now – that was Week 3. We were still finding ourselves and figuring things out over there on both sides of the ball. It doesn't help or hurt us, it just makes us know what we are now because we went through a season."
(On the difference in personnel compared to the Week 3 matchup)
"We're healthier. I don't know if we're different. Anybody that's come in to play has had to step up. We don't use injuries as an excuse, but we're healthier than we were before."
(On the difference he sees in the Eagles between Week 3 and now)
"They're talented – they're still tough. Again, they went to the Super Bowl last year, [had] double-digit wins this year. They're still a great team. They've got players all over the place."
(On reasons for Tampa Bay's strong finish to the season, particularly defensively)
"[The] communication really picked up and they're getting to know each other's strengths and weaknesses and playing off of each other."
(On containing Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts)
"It's huge. He gets his runs in, but it's the passing runs that kill you when you rush four. And he's so athletic, he gets outside the pocket anyway when you have four [and] you try to rush him normally. When you send five and [he] makes somebody miss, he gets up through the hole – that's going to be a real concentration point, because I don't see anybody that's really stopped it. We've just got to try to limit it [from] being 30-40-50-yard gains and try to keep it at six-seven-eight, hopefully."
(On if forcing turnovers and stopping the run is how you beat the Eagles)
"I'll let you know after the game. I don't know how you beat them yet because we haven't beaten them this year. We've got to be ready for everything. They can run it and they can throw it. They've got a great offensive line, they've got great [wide] receivers and they've got very good running backs and the quarterback is playing great. We've got to prepare for everything."
(On if the NFL will ever see a coaching run like New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick just had)
"I don't know if I'll see it in my lifetime, but maybe down the line [in] the future – you never say never. What he did is incredible."
(On his memories of going up against Belichick)
"I faced him as a player – he was with the Giants at the time. Those were battles. With the Jets, not so much. They beat us pretty [well] quite a few times. [He is] a great coach. If you just watch him and you watch him go through his every day routines and the way he handles things and everything else, [he is] a true professional. [He is] a grinder, he knows talent, he knows how to play in all facets of the ballgame. You could learn a lot from him. [There are] a couple of guys – Pete Carroll, as well – you can learn a lot from those guys."
(On the hallmark of a Bill Belichick coached team)
"Disciplined, tough, gritty, not making mistakes, playing well."
(On if Nick Saban ever recruited his son and if he has any stories from his time with Saban)
"My son went down to Alabama, but I didn't take that trip – I think my father-in-law took that trip. Unfortunately, I don't have any stories."
(On how to have success against the Philadelphia Eagles' defensive front)
"We've got to try and block them and give [Baker Mayfield] time, and we've got to try and block them so we can run it. We've got to grind it out and play four quarters. They're talented, but we've got to win our share of battles."
(On the report that the Carolina Panthers want to interview Offensive Coordinator Dave Canales for their head coaching vacancy)
"Dave is a very bright guy. He's going to be one – if not this year, he'll be one in the near future. It's a credit to him and the work they've put in on the offensive side of the ball with the coaches and the players. Whatever accolades he gets, he deserves."
(On S Antoine Winfield Jr. being named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for December/January and if he should be a Defensive Player of the Year candidate)
"I think he should. From the plays he's made this year – just from the way he's played. Week-in and week-out, big play after big play, be it a sack, be it a fumble, be it an interception, be it a tackle – play-in, play-out, he's been consistent all year. Again, I haven't looked at the other defensive players play – I'm sure there's a lot of guys that are deserving of that award, but in our minds, he should be."
(On the Defensive Player of the Year Award normally going to edge rushers and if it bothers him that Winfield has been overlooked)
"It doesn't irk me – I don't look for that. I look for getting to the playoffs and trying to get to the Super Bowl. We love our players. We have some good players and we understand that. Everybody will get to see him soon enough that hasn't seen him yet and he'll show them what we're seeing."
(On if the team is doing anything differently this week to prepare on Monday night)
"The only thing that has really changed is yesterday was our bonus day. Today is our Wednesday and we'll continue forward like it's a Sunday game, but we know it's a Monday game. Other than yesterday, nothing has changed."
(On how to help the team start fast)
"We've got to make plays. We've got to do the right things. Nobody can go outside the box and do something on their own. We've got to block people, we've got to tackle people and we've got to make plays."
(On if QB Baker Mayfield practiced today and when he expects to see him on the field)
"He would not have practiced today. Hopefully we'll see him tomorrow."
(On how much Mayfield's injuries affect the gameplan)
"It's a fine line. I don't think it affects Dave [Canales] as far as calling the game. I think Thad [Lewis] does a very good job making sure he gets the plays he needs to get for us to win, as opposed to calling plays just to protect him. We're trying to win the ballgame is the No. 1 thing, and Baker will tell you that. When he's out there, I don't think it affects him."
(On how to go about winning the battle in the trenches)
"We've got to play better. They beat us on both sides of the ball up front in the trenches and they won the ballgame. For us to win the ballgame, we've got to win the trenches."
(On external expectations prior to the season and if that motivated the team)
"I'm sure it is for the players and some coaches. A lot of guys look at it as a chip on their shoulders because they've been to the playoffs here before. For the young guys, I don't think so. We do a good job of keeping outside noise out of the building. We know what we can control and we did everything we thought we could do and we're still going. I'm sure we're underdogs and we'll be underdogs every week if we keep winning. We're good with that."
(On his message to the young players on the team)
"The intensity has ramped up, but don't stop doing what you've been doing. Continue to prepare the same way, continue to be a pro, continue to do what you've been doing. The minute you go outside the box is the minute you lose the ballgame."
WIDE RECEIVER MIKE EVANS
(On being back in the playoffs)
"I'm just excited – excited for another opportunity to play with the fellas, strap it up, and give our best shot to play next week."
(On if he likes facing a team they've already played once in the regular season)
"You always want a chance – especially against a team that beat you already. A team that beat you, you want to get some give-back, so… [nods]."
(On what he remembers about the Week 3 matchup against Philadelphia)
"They're going to change up some stuff, we're going to change up some stuff. We're a little different – we were trying to find our identity early in the season. I'm definitely looking forward to this opportunity. I remember in the first game, the rain was a little bit of an issue in the second or third quarter, but other than that, I remember they were more physical than us. We've got to come with it, physically."
(On how the offense has changed since Week 3)
"We've gotten better."
(On appreciating every opportunity to be in the postseason as it took him several seasons to make it for the first time)
"They've been telling them – the guys have been telling the younger guys that it's rare. For Antoine Winfield [Jr.], it isn't rare, Devin White – they've been a part of the playoffs for most of their career now. It depends on what situation you get into. Me and Lavonte [David] and Will Gholston are showing them that it's not always like that."
(On if the offense's struggles in the last two weeks were due to facing a divisional opponent for the second time)
"It possibly could be a factor, but I remember in the Saints game, they were more physical than us and they played better. The Panthers are sneakily a really good defense. We've played them twice and that might have played a factor."
(On how different the playoffs are compared to the regular season)
"It's the same to me. Just play hard."
(On the report that the Carolina Panthers want to interview Offensive Coordinator Dave Canales for their head coaching vacancy)
"Dave has done a great job. He's so positive every day, he knows exactly what to say. He's a really brilliant mind. Any team would be lucky to have him."
(On Canales' positivity)
"Everybody coaches differently, but his style, more people will flock to that."
(On if it will be exciting playing in a playoff atmosphere on Monday night)
"Yeah. Hopefully our fans come with it like they have in the past in the playoff appearances we've had."
(On potentially being named an All-Pro)
"It'll be tough to make it this year, but if I made it, I'd be appreciative."
WIDE RECEIVER CHRIS GODWIN
(On what 'HLB' on his hat stands for)
"Highest level. Highest level baby. Yeah, it's a shout-out to one of our coaches, David Raih. He's always pumping positivity and trying to get our guys to perform at a high level."
(On if he grew up a Philadelphia Eagles fan)
"A lot of my family were Eagles fans. I might've been in like middle school briefly, but right after high school I was more so a fan of just like players, kind of drop the whole team thing."
(On if he was too young to remember Rondé Barber's historic interception vs. the Eagles)
"No, I remember. That was actually the first time that I really started watching and playing football was around that time. I was actually a [Buccaneers] fan at that point because my youth team was named the Bucs, so it was a natural affiliation. I remember all of it."
(On how the offense has evolved since playing the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3)
"We've evolved so much. Just going through an entire season, figuring out who you are, going through the ups and downs of a season, you know, things have changed in a lot of ways. So, I'm excited about the opportunity, but at the same time, they've changed as well. Surely, they're going to come into the game with a different game plan and plan to attack us in a different way. Obviously, we have already played this year, but things will be different this week."
(On what he sees different about the Philadelphia Eagles defense during Week three compared to now)
"Obviously, they are some different guys out there. They've been banged up a little bit, so that makes it a little bit challenging whenever you're watching film just trying to anticipate who you're going against. [They] changed their coordinator, so schematically they changed a little bit, but they still have ballers on the other side, right? They still have the playmakers there that they've been counting on over the last couple of years and it will be a good challenge for us."
(On what contributed to the drop-off during the season)
"I think it's hard to really pinpoint like one or two things that contributed to the drop-off. I think we just need to figure out a way to be on the same page. Our defense has been playing really well, especially this last game, obviously pitching a shutout. We have to do the best that we can to help them out. When you get into the playoffs, things intensify, your margin of error is a lot smaller, and we understand that. All we can do is continue to work, make sure we are improving moving forward, and put our best foot forward on Monday."
(On what he learned playing the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3)
"I think I learned you [have] to be really, really on point to beat great teams, and obviously they had a great year last year and they had a really good year this year, so it's like we have to be on [our] Ps and Qs. We have to do things the right way and good teams figure out ways to win close games."
OUTSIDE LINEBACKER YAYA DIABY
(On if stopping Philadelphia Eagles RB D'Andre Swift is his No. 1 target)
"It's not that I'm not thinking about him, but I'm just thinking about doing what I need to do to stop the run. Set the edge and let everybody swarm."
(On if the veterans have been telling him how the playoffs are different)
"Yeah – win or go home. That's the mentality. Win or go home. For us, we've got to come in with the mindset of we're not trying to go home."
(On it being difficult to make the playoffs)
"Yeah, just like Lavonte [David] said – his first eight years, he didn't go to the playoffs. For me, being in my rookie year and getting a shot, it [doesn't] come easy. We've got to take advantage of it."
(On how confident the team is heading into this matchup)
"Oh yeah, we've got big confidence. For us, we just know what we've got to control. For right now, we've got to control the run and put our big boy pants on and stop the run."
(On if he gets excited about going up against top competition like Philadelphia's offensive line)
"Yeah. For me, I love going against the best. Any tackle, guard that's up there, I love. When we played San Francisco, I was excited to go up against Trent [Williams]. Now, I've got Lane Johnson [and] I'm excited to go against him again."
(On if it's sunk in for him that he's made the playoffs in his first year)
"Yeah, it's sunk in a little bit. I'm excited, but at the same time, I'm not thinking too much about that. I just know we've got to handle business come Monday."
(On what's made him so successful in his rookie season)
"It's just coming to work everyday with the mindset of I have to get better. That's how I operate. I always want to improve at something. I didn't have that many opportunities at Louisville to pass rush…so I try to get better at it everyday and keep improving in the run, as well."
