The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have selected their team captains for 2024, voting for six players who also had a "C" on their jerseys last year. On offense, the captains are wide receiver Mike Evans, quarterback Baker Mayfield and tackle Tristan Wirfs. On defense, the choices are linebacker Lavonte David, defensive lineman Vita Vea and safety Antoine Winfield Jr.

Heading into this 13th season in the NFL, David is both the longest-tenured player on the Bucs' roster and it's most decorated captain. He first got that honor from his teammates in 2014, his third year with the team, and has now been selected 11 seasons in a row. Evans has also become an annual selection, as this will be his eighth consecutive season as a captain, out of 11 NFL campaigns in total.

Vea, who originally joined the team in 2018, has now been chosen as a team captain in three consecutive seasons. Mayfield, Winfield and Wirfs were all captains for the Buccaneers for the first time in 2023, though Mayfield also wore the "C" for one season in Cleveland and another season in Carolina. Wirfs and Winfield were Tampa Bay's first two picks in the 2020 draft and both signed long-term contracts with the team this offseason.

Head Coach Todd Bowles announced the selections, which were based on a player vote, to the players during the full-team meeting on Thursday morning. Last year, the Buccaneers waited until several weeks into the season to select their captains, giving a little time for leaders on the roster to emerge, but this week the "C" jerseys will be on display in Week One.
