Quarterback Baker Mayfield joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his fourth team, in 2023 and immediately breathed new life into his NFL career. Among Mayfield's many accomplishments during a season in which he led the Buccaneers to the NFC South title was a career-high 28 touchdown passes, surpassing his previous best of 27 in his 2018 rookie season.
That career high didn't last long. Mayfield tied it in Week 14 with his three touchdown passes against the Las Vegas Raiders, then broke it on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. His 26-yard scoring pass to Jalen McMillan in the first quarter was his 29th of the season.
Mayfield entered Week 15 tied for third in the NFL in touchdown passes, trailing only Cincinnati's Joe Burrow (33) and Baltimore's Lamar Jackson (29). After his first scoring toss against Los Angeles, Mayfield needed just one more to join Tom Brady and Jameis Winston as the only quarterbacks in franchise history to hit the 30-touchdown mark in a season.
