The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Carolina Panthers in overtime, 26-23. Outside linebacker Anthony Nelson sparked the club's victory at Bank of America Stadium. In overtime as the Panthers threatened to score and moved down the field after Chase McLaughlin's missed 55-yard attempt, Nelson tackled Chuba Hubbard and knocked the ball out, which Yaya Diaby recovered at the 29-yard line. In Week 13, Nelson concluded the game with three quarterback hits and six combined tackles.

"Plays just happen," said Nelson. "That is why I like to play every play. You have to play hard and attack the ball and attack the runner when you tackle him and do the right things and then eventually it lines up. It lined up for us today and it lined up for me today, and I am just glad Yaya was able to get the ball."

For his contribution, Nelson was awarded the game ball and was the last person off the field, basking in the moment. Not only was the Week 13 game eventful, but his home life as well. Nelson's wife, Jordyn, gave birth to their second son, Eli, on Friday. His expanded family brought a smile and renewed energy against the Panthers.

Against the Giants in Week 12, Nelson finished the matchup with a sack on Tommy DeVito, along with two quarterback hits and two tackles for loss – a performance that was an embodiment of what he has done throughout his career. Nelson consistently takes advantage of his opportunities when his number is called and showcased his explosion, length and edge-setting capability. He put the exclamation mark on the Bucs' win in Charlotte and energized the team in overtime.
