Mercedes-Benz Stadium to Host Super Bowl LXII

The NFL announced on Tuesday during the annual Fall League Meeting that Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host Super Bowl LXII in 2028 following a vote of approval by NFL team owners.

"Renowned for its hospitality and rich sports and entertainment culture, Atlanta is a world-class event destination and a natural fit for Super Bowl 62," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "Arthur Blank has been a transformative figure in the Atlanta community, playing a crucial role in leading the bid to bring the Super Bowl back to the city. I have been fortunate to witness firsthand how Arthur continues to drive community engagement and economic development in the Atlanta community through his unwavering commitment to sports and philanthropy. We look forward to working with him, the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Sports Council and all of our partners on the ground to create an unforgettable experience for fans around the world in 2028."

The 2028 Super Bowl will mark the fourth championship game held in Atlanta, and the first since February 2019 when the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams. That pinnacle moment became the last Lombardi Trophy of the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era.

Tom Brady Approved as Raiders Minority Owner

Tom Brady's purchase of a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders was approved at the NFL's fall league meeting in Atlanta on Tuesday. He will take approximately 5% control of the Raiders and needed 24 of 32 votes at the fall meeting. Brady, who played 23 seasons in the league with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, also owns a minority stake in the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces. Mark Davis originally announced that Brady would buy a stake in his team in May of 2023, but it took 17 months for approval due to a variety of factors.

The seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback agreed to a 10-year, $375 million contract with FOX as an analyst once his playing career was over. He retired in 2023 and began his work in the booth during his debut on Sunday, September 8, joining play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt for "America's Game of the Week."
