(On if he received an explanation of the roughing the passer call on the play in which DL Will Gholston's helmet coming off)
"Well, he bumped into the quarterback and that's a penalty. So, no. The part of offsetting penalties? No, I didn't get anything."
(On how they can rectify penalties)
"Well, you know, this was the one that was the most disappointing. We do a scouting report on who's calling the game every week. This referee is very, very protective of the quarterback. They lead the league in roughing the passer penalties and we committed obvious penalties. Any time you touch them on the head, it's a penalty. Players just have to take the responsibility to play smarter."
(On the status of TE Rob Gronkowski and if he will return after the Bye Week)
"I have no idea with his back. It just spasmed up. We don't know. We'll have to wait and see on that one."
(On if the back spasms are related to his rib injury)
"Yeah, it's all connected. I don't get all the medical jargon – what joint here and there – but they are just connected."
(On the possibility of players returning from Injured Reserve following the Bye Week)
"I think we'll know more when we are back, but Sean [Murphy-Bunting] and Carlton [Davis III] look like they are making really good progress. Scotty Miller is also."
(On the number of snaps that OLB Joe Tryon-Shoyinka played)
"Yeah, 'JPP' (Jason Pierre-Paul) was playing so [well] and the package wasn't as big for Joe this week. It's just a matter of how much we can get him in. I would like to see him play more."
(On what he's looking forward to improving on during the Bye Week)
"Discipline."
(On his thoughts on the pass rush)
"We had some free guys and just didn't get there in time. I think we went for a strip sack and let Jameis [Winston] out one time. We just have to do a better job of finishing, especially when we're blitzing. The back end has to hold up just a little bit longer, too, and don't let those quick throws come out. So, it's a combination of the coverage – because we are getting guys free, and we're getting pressure, but we're not finishing the job."
(On allowing the Saints to score 30-plus points multiple times in the past few seasons)
"It's strictly the offense turning the ball over -- that and penalties. Both times down there, we've turned it over three times and you're not going to beat those guys down there with the number of penalties and the turnovers. That's all we talked about all week going into the game."
(On the gesture made by S Antoine Winfield Jr. after his interception that was called back)
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
(On if he has a comment regarding the gesture)
"Again, I don't have a clue what you're saying."
(On if technique and fundamentals will be points of emphasis once the players return following the Bye Week)
"It is every week. Most penalties are technique or fundamentally [caused]. Yeah, we do it every week, but this one was more discipline and just playing by the rules."
(On T Donovan Smith leaving the game briefly before returning and if it will have any lingering effect)
"No, he's fine."
(On the possibility of trading RB Ronald Jones II in the next 48 hours)
"It would have to be something really, really special because I love the way he's running. It's just one nick on Leonard [Fournette] and then 'RoJo' is the guy again. To me, that's still a great one-two punch. It would have to be something extraordinary."
(On if he thinks the NFL has gone too far with the roughing the passer penalties)
"I don't think so. I think you just have to play by the rules and adjust to the rules. I think when we started lowering the strike zone, players got used to lowering the strike zone. You reach up high to bat the ball down, you can't hit the guy in the face. Some referees are different. Three of those calls two weeks ago wouldn't have been called, but [with] this referee, you knew he was going to call it. That's his MO, so you can't do it. You have to just be disciplined each and every week. But I don't think so. What is the game without the quarterbacks?"
