The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play their first preseason game of 2024 on Saturday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. There will be 22 players who get the distinction of starting the game.
That opening-day preseason lineup will in no way end the competition for several starting spots, nor will the team's first depth chart of 2024, released on Monday to accompany the Buccaneers' overall game release, be a permanent document. Still, as the first depth chart of the year, it does provide some perspective.
The Buccaneers are listing their starting 11 on offense as a three-receiver crew, with second-year man Trey Palmer joining stalwarts Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Ben Bredeson, a 2024 addition through free agency, is the listed starting left guard. Robert Hainsey, who has started the past two seasons at center, remains in that spot while he competes with rookie first-rounder Graham Barton for the job. Linebacker K.J. Britt and cornerback Zyon McCollum are the new additions to the starting 11 on defense in 2024, along with free agency addition Jordan Whitehead at safety.
