The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today placed cornerback Jamel Dean and wide receiver Kameron Johnson on Injured Reserve. Additionally, the team has activated defensive lineman Earnest Brown IV from Injured Reserve.
The Buccaneers have also elevated punter Trenton Gill from the practice squad for Tampa Bay's Week 7 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. It represents Gill's third elevation of the season.
Brown IV (6-5, 300) was signed by the Buccaneers on May 22, 2024, and made Tampa Bay's initial 53-man roster out of training camp before being placed on Injured Reserve on September 6. He originally entered the league as a fifth-round selection (No. 174 overall) by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 NFL Draft and remained with the Rams through the 2023 season, splitting time between the practice squad and active roster during that span. He has played in 12 career games, including three starts, recording 14 tackles (one for loss). The Aubrey, Texas, native played collegiately at Northwestern (2017-20) and wears No. 97 for Tampa Bay.
Gill (6-4, 219) was signed to the Buccaneers practice squad on Sept. 24. Gill appeared in Weeks 4-5 for Tampa Bay, punting a combined six times for a gross average of 39.5 yards per punt and a net average of 36.2 yards per punt. He originally entered the league as a seventh-round selection (No. 255 overall) by the Chicago Bears in the 2022 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 36 career games between the Bears and Buccaneers, punting 139 times for a gross punting average of 45.8 and a net punting average of 39.0. The Hillsborough, North Carolina, native played collegiately at North Carolina State (2017-21), appearing in 36 career games and punting 173 times for a 45.8 gross average – the highest mark in program history. He wears No. 16 for Tampa Bay.
