The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks joined the NFL together as expansion teams in 1976, becoming the league's 27th and 28th franchises, respectively. In 2025, the two teams will celebrate their parallel 50 seasons in the NFL in a unique and visually-stunning manner.
The Buccaneers announced on Thursday that they will wear their new throwback uniforms based on the design that was worn only in that inaugural 1976 season when they face the Seahawks in Seattle in Week Five of the 2025 season. The team unveiled The '76 Jersey on Tuesday and announced that it will first be featured in the home opener against the New York Jets in Week Three.
The Seahawks will also don throwback uniforms for the game on October 5 at Lumen Field. The Buccaneers and Seahawks first met during the 1976 season, with Seattle prevailing 13-10 at Tampa Stadium.
The '76 Jersey is white and most notably features orange numbers with a red outline. The recreated jerseys for 2025 will feature a special Creamsicle 50th season patch but otherwise will be the same as 1976 with the memorable sleeve pattern, with one orange stripe between two red ones. The look will be completed with the original white helmets, white pants and striped socks.
Tampa Bay and Seattle have met 15 times over the past 49 seasons, with the Seahawks holding a 9-6 edge. The Buccaneers have won five of the last seven meetings, including the most recent one, a 21-16 decision in 2022 that was the first NFL regular season game ever played in Munich, Germany. Both the Buccaneers and Seahawks have won Super Bowls since joining the NFL, Tampa Bay in the 2002 and 2020 seasons and Seattle in the 2013 season. The Seahawks also played in Super Bowl XL in the 2005 season.
The Buccaneers also previously announced that they will wear their popular orange "Creamsicle" jerseys in Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons. That game is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, December 11 at Raymond James Stadium.
