Photo Gallery: 10 Baltimore Game Observations by Coach Schiano
The Bucs began their preseason on Thursday with a 44-16 loss to Baltimore. As usual in the preseason, the details are more important than the final score, so here are 10 details Head Coach Greg Schiano noticed in the opener.
!["[LB] Lavonte David, I though picked up where he left off, he played well. He made some plays. I thought [RB] Brian Leonard ran the ball well and pass-protected well, which was good to see because we need him to back up [Doug Martin]."](https://static.clubs.nfl.com/image/private/t_new_photo_album/t_lazy/f_auto/buccaneers/nwjxk3vsypigcizwdckc.jpg)

!["I was pleased with the three made field goals [by first-year K Derek Dimke]. They weren't gimmes. That was good. Someone mentioned last night, 'Does that make it a more spirited competition?' To me it's been spirited since the day we got here. It will continue to heat up, and like every other position, that competition at the end will make us better. I hope for a very, very hard decision there [between Dimke and veteran Lawrence Tynes] and that would mean that we're going to be in good shape."](https://static.clubs.nfl.com/image/private/t_new_photo_album/t_lazy/f_auto/buccaneers/hbjlw1rmkxqnvkxgoygc.jpg)

I had seen that on [Adams'] Arizona tape; I'm glad to see him continue to do that."](https://static.clubs.nfl.com/image/private/t_new_photo_album/t_lazy/f_auto/buccaneers/jiuntptm3jmbjam14nxb.jpg)

"I thought he did a good job running the operation, a really good job. I thought that we need to continue to work on all of the finer details that go along with playing quarterback in the pass game. There's just so much that NFL defenses do that college defenses don't. Mike is only going to get more comfortable. The thing that you can't teach is that composure. I'm thrilled the way that he handled it."
!["I think Josh has done everything that meets my expectations so far, so I don't see that being the way things are playing out. I don't see [Glennon taking his job] being the case. I thought the play he extended on the third down was really vintage Josh. That's what he does well; he keeps his eyes down the field. I thought he was solid. We didn't have a chance to be spectacular but he was solid."](https://static.clubs.nfl.com/image/private/t_new_photo_album/t_lazy/f_auto/buccaneers/jlzmbesw8e61rst9nk9e.jpg)

!["Well first thing, we plan on keeping three quarterbacks. You never know what can unfold, but that's the plan. Obviously Dan Orlovsky is our third quarterback. We wanted to give Adam [Weber] a chance last night because we got him off a practice squad [last year], and we never really got to see him play. So we wanted an opportunity to see that."](https://static.clubs.nfl.com/image/private/t_new_photo_album/t_lazy/f_auto/buccaneers/juox9n9he6z1kguar2kh.jpg)

"He made some plays. There's still a lot to learn in our system and the expectations we have for effort every play and all those things. But, you can see he's got ability and that's why we went out and got him and he did the things we thought he could do. As we have to do with our whole football team, we have to get where we're doing it consistently. He's no different."

"Bowers: some good, some not so good, but more importantly some good, and that's what we need. We're going to get there, he's going to get there. We're just going to get a little more 'good,' a little less 'not so good' and just keep tipping the scale the way we want it. It's just going to take a little time."

"Some of these young kids, it's their first time playing in a game. All I asked them was I wanted to see execution. I wanted to see effort and I wanted to see us taking care of the football. At times we did, but at other times we didn't. I want to see how you play against another team. I want to see how we coach in a game atmosphere, so all those things we had the opportunity to do."
!["I was as much an accountant as I was a coach, trying to make sure that everybody [played the right amount]. I'm talking to assistant coaches, but they have a job to do, so I kind of was making sure that we didn't go over limits. The worst thing, too, is to look out there and your guy gets injured and he's over the limit, he's over what you wanted him to play. It's a fine line and it takes a lot of work to do it, but it's worth it."](https://static.clubs.nfl.com/image/private/t_new_photo_album/t_lazy/f_auto/buccaneers/udsfjcf6y5hvz0il1rbk.jpg)
