HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES
(On his takeaways from yesterday's game after watching the tape)
"It was as bad as I thought it was. We didn't play well in any facet of the game – offense, defense, or special teams."
(On if the reason that RB Bucky Irving doesn't receive more snaps is due to his understanding of the playbook or his ability to pass block)
"It has nothing to do with anything. We were behind, so we threw it a little bit more. Rachaad [White] is probably a better pass protector, at this point, but Bucky has definitely earned more reps."
(On the lack of sacks over the last two weeks)
"Sometimes they just hadn't beaten their guy, sometimes they had but the ball had been out. We've got to keep working. They've got to get there. We need more push on the inside to help them out on the outside. We've just got to keep working at it."
(On if any of the injured players might return to practice this week)
"Not yet. I know they're getting closer, I just don't know how close."
(On how to avoid going on a losing streak after a 2-0 start)
"We can't make the mistakes we made. We made a lot of mistakes yesterday that cost us the ballgame. We could've made some plays that could've bailed us out of some things and we didn't. We've just got to stay the course and understand it's going to be a long year. We're going to play harder next game than we did this game, and harder the next game after that than that game and try to keep it going."
(On if yesterday's mistakes were mental or physical)
"Some were mental, some were physical."
(On the lack of urgency on offense at the end of the game)
"We were trying to go up-tempo. We had to get in the huddle [because] the wideouts were coming in and out of the ballgame. It slowed the pace down some."
(On his message to the team this week)
"Not too high on the wins, not too low on the losses. We've got another game to prepare for. We've got to get ready to go after we watch the tape and correct everything. Get the taste out of their mouth and get to work."
(On who would have been the emergency long snapper if it was needed)
"Cade Otton."
(On if there were any other injuries suffered on Sunday)
"Not yet. I'm still going through the training [room] process of it – people are still getting in there. I'm sure there are some nicks and bruises, but I'm not sure which ones yet. I don't get that until the afternoon."
(On if the team might bring back former LS Zach Triner following the injury to LS Evan Deckers)
"We talked about that. He would be the first choice."
(On if the sacks were the offensive line's fault or due to QB Baker Mayfield holding onto the ball too long)
"A little bit of both. A little bit of both."
(On the lack of production from wide receivers other than Mike Evans and Chris Godwin)
"We're still working through it. Obviously, Mike and Chris are the priority, but other guys have got to start chipping in and we've got to get the ball to them."
(On WR Mike Evans' lack of targets over the last two weeks)
"We've got to get him involved more."
