RUNNING BACK BUCKY IRVING
(On the successful run game in the second half and the zig-zag play he had in Sunday's game)
"I would probably say it started with preparation – me and [Sean] Tucker being prepared going on that we had to play a big role in the game, but just being detailed on our runs and also just having the coaches trust because we are young guys that had to fill in a big role with Rachaad [White] out. On that play that I did all that zig zagging, I mean, it was just a counter play. I was waiting for Cade [Otton] to come around and get the back block on that, but I just read it all out and then my instincts kicked in. [I'm] just out there trying to have fun."
(On the confidence the coaches and teams have in the run game)
"Going into the game, you always want to go into the game establishing the run, but once you establish the run, it opens up for the guys outside like Mike [Evans] and Chris [Godwin] to go off. I feel like as long as you go into the game with the right idea that you want to run the football – start the game off with running the football, you will be very fine in my eyes."
(On preparing to face Baltimore's run defense)
"You always have to be up for the challenge. You have to treat every week the same as far as a preparation standpoint and just attack it. We're just going to go out there and compete at a high level, we're going to see what our coaches come up [with] as far as a game plan standpoint and then go with that."
(On what the team can learn from winning and losing in a variety of different ways)
"I mean, we have great leaders that [have] been down this path that have played this game for a long time so we always lean on [those] guys. [Those] guys come to us and say, 'It's a long season so don't get down on yourself.' We have a lot more football to play and we just have to take it week by week and just keep getting better."
SAFETY ANTOINE WINFIELD JR.
(On his injury and rehab process)
"It was tough. I actually was trying to make a move when I was blitzing and I kind of planted and overstepped a little bit and felt something weird in my foot. So yeah, [I've] been out a few weeks from a foot injury but I'm happy to be back."
(On having a full-strength defense back)
"We can do a lot, and I feel like that was kind of on display this past week. I feel like we have players everywhere that can make plays, and our goal was just to go out there and get as many takeaways as we can and that's just something that we kind of work on every week. Once we have all of our pieces there then I feel like that's something that we can do consistently."
(On the coaching staff and team being able to pull off wins despite himself and others being injured)
"They've been doing that because that's part of the job. It's like that next-man-up mentality. Even though I went out, we still had guys filling in that did a great job. Christian Izien came in [and] did a great job when I went out so it's always having those guys that are working behind the starters and when somebody goes down, it's a next-man-up mentality and they come in and do a great job. That's the way that we've been able to get some wins."
(On Head Coach Todd Bowles' and the staff's halftime adjustments)
"He does a great job. He sees something and once he knows what they're kind of going to be in, he fixes it and changes his whole play calling. That's what you want out of a 'DC' (defensive coordinator) / head coach. For him to make those adjustments, that just speaks to his character and how he sees the game."
(On this team's ability to bounce back quickly)
"I would say just from our past experiences of being with each other, we try to get out of those slumps as fast as possible. That's why I think you can see that day to day but it's really just the message of, 'We want to be great,' right? So every day we have to attack it like that. We can't let days turn to weeks [when] that slump area happens so we kind of just like nip it in the bud and try to make sure that doesn't happen to us."
