Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Takeaways from Hard Knocks, Episode 2

A look at the second episode of Hard Knocks.

**

  1. Roberto Aguayo was front and center.**
Heading into this episode, it was expected that the Buccaneers' decision to release kicker Roberto Aguayo would be one of the primary storylines. Aguayo, a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, was waived on Saturday following the Buccaneers' first preseason game. Hard Knocks opened with a scene of General Manager Jason Licht discussing Aguayo, and Aguayo was a focal point throughout the whole episode.

2. The backup quarterback battle was on full display.
Throughout training camp, the battle for the No. 2 quarterback spot has been one of the most tightly-contest of any position on the Buccaneers' roster. After Jameis Winston, the Buccaneers have three quarterbacks: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Griffin and Sefo Luifau. 1. Robert McClain was profiled.**
In addition to the team's stars, Hard Knocks usually devotes a portion of each episode following players battling for a roster spot. In the first episode, that player was rookie linebacker Riley Bullough, who also appeared in the second episode. Hard Knocks also touched on a veteran fighting for a roster spot: McClain. Hard Knocks pointed out the fact that McClain was hoping to earn a spot on his fourth different team in seven seasons.

4. Gerald McCoy is getting some love.
McCoy is one of the Buccaneers' most unique personalities. A game-wrecker on the field, McCoy is an avid super hero fan, and Hard Knocks was able to capture his custom super hero cleats he's been wearing to practice. McCoy has also been wearing socks depicting pro wrestlers, something that Hard Knocks touched on. Of course, McCoy's dominance on the field was a focal point as well.

5. We got an up-close look at Brent Grimes' home life.
Grimes' performance on the field speaks for itself. At 5-foot-9 and 34 years old, Grimes is still one of the top cornerbacks in the league. Hard Knocks touched on Grimes' on-field performance, but also visited his home and spent time with his wife, Miko
