Do you have a knack for creativity and a passion for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? If so, the NFL wants to know.
In anticipation of training camp, the NFL is giving fans around the league a great way to get "Back to Football" and at the same time show off both their team spirit and their imagination. It's called the NFL Fan Flag Challenge and it could win you a trip to New York to take part in this year's season kickoff festivities. Through the challenge, the NFL and all 32 clubs are asking fans to help inspire the design of the team flags that will help launch the league's 93rd season.
Thirty-two fans, one per team, will participate in 2012 NFL Kickoff and will have their design concept incorporated into the team flags that will be on display as part of the festivities in New York on Wednesday, September 5. The celebration will lead into the 2012 opening game between the Super Bowl XLVI champion New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ that evening (8:30 PM ET, NBC).
The NFL Fan Flag Challenge asks fans to submit designs with elements representative of their teams' city, community, traditions or fans. Whether you choose to highlight historic Ybor City, pay homage to the annual Gasparilla Parade or showcase the Bay area's world-class beaches – or incorporate any other aspect of Bay area life – this is a way of showing other teams what Tampa Bay is all about.
Grand prize winners will be chosen from all 32 NFL markets. Each grand prize will include the winner's inspirational design concept being used as a guideline to create the team's flag, and a trip for the winner and one guest to New York to participate in 2012 NFL Kickoff festivities.
Fans may enter the Fan Flag Challenge at NFL.com/fanflags through this Sunday, July 15 by submitting an entry in essay format describing their vision of the flag, explain the inspiration for their flag design and why it's meaningful to him/her. Each team will participate on the judging panel for its flag.
