Skill position stars use combine as proving ground

NFL Combine-Proving Ground

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Matt Barkley and Landry Jones need to show NFL scouts they still have first-round skills.

Marcus Lattimore must prove he's healthy, and receiver Da'Rick Rogers must explain he's moved beyond his past troubles.

It's all part of the annual evaluation process taking place now in Indy. But rarely have the concerns about skill players run this deep.

At quarterback, there is no bonafide No. 1 choice. Lattimore probably would have been the first running back taken in April's draft - if he hadn't sustained a gruesome, season-ending knee injury last fall. Rogers is talented, but wound up finishing his career at Tennessee Tech after failing a drug test and getting booted out at Tennessee.

The questions could mean none of the four get taken on the draft's first day.
