NFL's Daniel Jeremiah ranked his top 50 NFL Draft prospects.
It's been nearly a month since NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah has released a mock draft. But after the NFL Scouting Combine has come to an end and the first wave of free agency is over, he has a new set of predictions.
In early February, Jeremiah projected Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara to the Bucs. In his latest mock draft, Jeremiah has a new player for Tampa Bay at No. 19 – Colorado cornerback Chidobe Awuzie.
Jeremiah is the first draft analyst to project Awuzie to the Bucs; he hasn't been listed by any outlet in any of the seven Mock Draft Roundups leading up to Tuesday. In this week's Mock Draft Roundup, Awuzie was the only cornerback listed. He was one of two defensive backs mocked to the Bucs, along with Connecticut safety Obi Melifonwu.
In four seasons at Colorado, Awuzie recorded 212 tackles, three interceptions, 25 passes defensed and six forced fumbles. He recorded four sacks in each of his final two seasons.
Jeremiah's colleague, Lance Zierlein, spoke highly of Awuzie in his scouting report on NFL.com.
"Sticky man-cover corner who possesses the reactive athleticism and foot quickness to maintain coverage responsibilities around the field," he wrote. "Awuzie is not a burner, but his technique and instincts should provide what he needs to compete downfield. His inconsistencies as a tackler, however, could turn off some teams. He can play outside or in the slot and has traits and talent to compete for early playing time."
