Football fans agree with the NFL's assessment on Wednesday: Jameis Winston was the best passer in the NFC in Week Four.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, his second time receiving that award. On Thursday, Winston was honored once again, this time by NFL fans whose votes on NFL.com made him the FedEx Air Player of the Week.
Both honors came on the heels of his four-touchdown performance in Tampa Bay's rousing 55-40 road win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. This is also the second time that Winston has won the FedEx Air Player of the Week Award. He won the same two awards following his four-touchdown game in Atlanta in Week One of the 2016, and he is the only player in team history to be named both the NFC Offensive Player of the Week and the FedEx Air Player of the Week following the same game.
Winston completed 28 of 41 passes (68.3%) for 385 yards and those four touchdowns against the Rams, with one interception and a passer rating of 120.5. He averaged 9.4 yards per pass attempt and led the Buccaneers to their highest single-game points total ever.
Winston threw two scoring passes to Chris Godwin, for three and nine yards, and also found tight end Cameron Brate on a 13-yard score on the first play of the fourth quarter. After the Rams had reduced the Bucs' lead to 38-27 two minutes later, Winston answered immediately with a 67-yard touchdown arc to Mike Evans. Over his last three games, Winston has thrown for 973 yards and eight touchdowns.
