By any measure, Jameis Winston is putting together a very strong rookie season. But if there is one area in particular that Winston has been excelling in, it's been his play in the red zone.
According to Pro Football Reference, Winston has been nearly perfect in the red zone this season. He has thrown 12 touchdowns inside the 20-yard line and has yet to be intercepted.
On top of that, Winston has added five more red zone scores on the ground. In total, he's completed 24 of 57 passes for 185 yards when inside the 20. Winston has been in the red zone fairly often, too. His 57 passes are the ninth-most of any quarterback in the NFL.
Through 12 games, Winston is on pace for one of the best passing seasons in Buccaneer history. At the rate he's going, he will finish the season with 3,849 yards, which would be the second-most in a single season in franchise history. He is also poised to throw 23 touchdowns, which would be the fourth-most in team history.
Winston has already broken the Bucs' rookie passing record, surpassing a mark that Mike Glennon set back in 2013. He also tied a team record for rushing touchdowns, picking up his fifth score of the year last Sunday. Through 12 games, Winston has 2,877 passing yards, 17 passing touchdowns, five rushing touchdowns and 11 interceptions. As a results, he owns a passer rating of 85.6.
