Jameis Winston Named Rookie of the Week

The rookie quarterback took home the award for Week 2.

On Friday afternoon, the NFL announced that Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston had been named their Rookie of the Week for Week 2 of the 2015 season. The winner was selected via a fan vote on NFL.com.

Winston completed 14 of 21 passes in the Bucs' victory over the Saints, accumulating 207 yards, a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown. He earned a passer rating of 114.6 and was rated as the league's No. 7 quarterback, per Pro Football Focus. Winston's passer rating was the fifth-best by a Buccaneer rookie in a regular season game in team history.

Winston was one of five nominees, along with Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper, Redskins running back Matt Jones, Cardinals running back David Johnson and Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters.

The Buccaneers are set to take the field on Sunday, September 27th against the Houston Texans for their third game of the regular season.
