Buccaneers.com asked the fans who their favorite players in team history were. After votes have been tallied, a handful of current players have broken into the top 20. Coming in at No. 7 is the third active player to appear on the list – defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. McCoy joins wide receiver Vincent Jackson (13) and linebacker Lavonte David (9) as current players to be selected.

McCoy, a defensive captain, has been selected to three consecutive Pro Bowls and was named a first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press in 2013. He's routinely ranked among the best defensive tackles in the NFL and was recently selected as the No. 28 player in NFL Network's Top 100 countdown. He was No. 28 a year ago, as well.

In 2014, Pro Football Focus listed McCoy as the top-rated pass-rushing defensive tackle in the league, and his numbers reflect their selection; he's recorded 18 sacks over the past two seasons to increase his career total to 27.

In the October of 2014, the Bucs inked McCoy to a seven-year contract, which would keep him in Tampa through the 12th season of his career.
