With the regular season coming to a close, Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans remains the top-rated player at his position, according to Pro Football Focus. Evans has been their top wide receiver for the majority of the season.
Evans currently has an overall rating of 93.9, followed by Atlanta's Julio Jones (91.5), Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown (89.7) and Cincinnati's A.J. Green (88.1). Pro Football Focus breaks down players by several categories, with Evans leading the way in receiving with a 92.9 grade and also being ranked among the league's top blocking wide receivers. Evans' blocking grade is 79.4, the seventh-highest in the NFL.
Evans' statistics support PFF's grade. He's No. 5 in the league in receiving yards (1,256) and receptions (91) and No. 3 in touchdowns (11). Evans needs one more touchdown reception to tie the Buccaneers' single-season record, a record that he already owns after catching 12 touchdowns during his rookie season. For his efforts, Evans was selected to play in his first Pro Bowl this season. The game is set to be played in Orlando on January 29th.
