Buccaneers' legendary linebacker Derrick Brooks has been named a 2018 Pro Bowl Legends Captain. He will serve as the defensive captain for the NFC team in the NFC vs. AFC format that returned to the Pro Bowl last year
"I don't want to go in with any expectations, I just want the players to know that I'm open," Brooks said to the Orlando Sentinel. "Whatever the coaching is, whether it's the game, whether it's their own positions, you name it. … [I] rarely get a chance to get close to a hundred of the superstars together, to be in that group, so I'm excited for it. Again, I have no expectations and I'm probably going to be a lot more nervous than I seem right now to be amongst them, but I just want them to be there for them. And obviously the fans.
"Going to the Pro Bowl so many times in my career, I enjoy interaction with the fans as well. I'm really excited and hope to do all of those things."
Brooks is no stranger to the Pro Bowl, having been selected 11 times during his playing career, a franchise best.
The Pro Bowl returned to the traditional NFC vs. AFC format in 2016, with offensive and defensive Legends Captains leading each team. The game will take place on January 28 and once again be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla.
