DE Steve White will be on the Pewter Power Hour tonight to discuss the Lions' pass protection and much more
On the last play from scrimmage in the third quarter during Sunday's game in Detroit, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Steve White put a hard rush on Lions QB Charlie Batch. White wrapped up the Lions passer, but Batch managed to get off a short throw to avoid the sack.
Since it was third-and-nine, the Lions had to punt, and wide receiver Karl Williams returned John Jett's kick 84 yards for a touchdown on perhaps the most crucial play of the game.
After Williams' big return, White's pressure on the previous snap was all but forgotten. However, it was the type of play that is sure to cause a stir the next morning during the team's film session, because there are some that believe White actually had Batch down before the throw and should have gotten credit for the sack. Had the Bucs followed their normal routine and come in Monday for game review, that moment probably would have been rewound and replayed several times during the defensive line's meeting.
As it was, Head Coach Tony Dungy gave the team the day off on Monday, so neither White nor his teammates have seen the video of the game. He hasn't even had a chance to discuss the play in question nor any of the game-turning moments in Sunday's tense win over the Lions.
Until now. And he's going to discuss it with you.
The Pewter Power Hour is back, and White is the first guest in the new bi-weekly format. Originally, White and DE Simeon Rice were scheduled to appear on the show together, but the extra day off caused many of the Buc players to make impromptu travel plans. Rice's appearance on the show has been postponed, but White, one of the deep thinkers in the Bucs' locker room, will still be in the studio Monday night to chat with Buccaneer fans.
Every other Monday, the Pewter Power Hour gives fans a chance to speak directly with prominent guests from the Buccaneers' locker room. Visitors to Buccaneers.com can simply listen to the live audio stream of the show or choose to participate by calling the following toll-free number:
1-866-783-2680.
Callers are patched in directly to the player, with whom they may discuss the most recent game, the contest ahead, the Bucs' season as a whole or any topic that comes to mind.
Tonight's Pewter Power Hour begins at 7:30 p.m. with White on the headphones and ready to take your call.
After the conclusion of the show, a replay version will be posted in the Buccaneers Broadcast Network on the home page.
