This week, 41 players across the NFL began externship programs with 15 different companies, marking the fourth consecutive year of the NFL Players Association's program. Among those participating are Buccaneers wide receiver Donteea Dye and defensive lineman Channing Ward.
"The Externship has become a staple program of this organization and has provided an opportunity for our members to obtain gainful experience and critical skills needed to excel during their NFL careers and beyond," said Dana Hammonds, senior director of the NFLPA's player affairs department.
"These players are to be applauded as they have sacrificed time away from family and friends because they understand the value and concerted efforts, led by their union, to gain meaningful professional experience."
Dye will be working with Marriott International and is the only NFL player participating in their externship program. He has appeared in 11 games during his two seasons with the Buccaneers, making six starts.

Ward, who signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted rookie last year, will be working with the Broward Sheriff's Office. There were four new companies to join the NFLPA's program, with the Broward Sheriff's Office being one of them. Ward is one of four players working with the company this offseason, along with Arizona's Nordly Capi, Indianapolis' Kendall Langford and Pittsburgh's Cole Manhart. During his rookie season, Ward appeared in four games with one start.
In total, 19 different NFL teams are represented in the three-week program, which concludes on March 3rd. For more information on the NFLPA's externship program, click **HERE**.
