Tune in to WMOR, Channel 32 on August 20 to see DE Simeon Rice and the Buccaneers take on Jacksonville Jaguars
If you tune into WFLA, Channel 8 to see some Tampa Bay Buccaneers football this August and instead see javelins and shot puts flying through the air, it's time to flip the dial.
Let your remote guide you to WMOR, Channel 32 and you'll find all the Buccaneer preseason football you had hoped to see.
The Bucs and Pewter Partner WFLA are in the second year of a four-year deal to televise Tampa Bay's preseason games. (Regular season NFL games are broadcast on FOX, CBS, ABC and ESPN.) However, NBC, the network for which WFLA is an affiliate, owns the broadcast rights to the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
That's what is known as a major scheduling conflict.
Not wanting to deprive Buccaneer fans nor Olympics watchers, WFLA and the Buccaneers found a solution. This August, Tampa Bay's four preseason games will be televised on WMOR, Channel 32.
The switch should be seamless for Buccaneer fans. WMOR is available to Bay area residents through all of the same systems as WFLA – over-the-air, cable and satellite – so Buccaneer fans won't miss a snap. On the local cable provider, WMOR is broadcast on Channel 12 in Hillsborough County, Pasco County and south Pinellas County and on Channel 10 in north Pinellas County.
"We understand that the Summer Olympics are an important part of WFLA's programming this summer," said Mike Newquist, the Buccaneers Senior Director of Business Administration. "We also know that our fans have waited a long time to see this team and its new players in action. Moving the games to WMOR will allow Bay area fans to support our team and our country."
All four Buccaneer preseason games will be carried live on WMOR. The team kicks off its 2004 preseason schedule with a home game against Cincinnati on August 14. Tampa Bay's entire preseason schedule follows.
