The Buccaneers aren't expecting major shakeups from under center going into Detroit. Quarterback Jameis Winston, who suffered a thumb injury against the Colts last Sunday and came out of the game for a series, is expected to play against the Lions, per Head Coach Bruce Arians. Winston didn't throw a football until Friday's practice but at this point of the season with the experience he has, neither his head coach nor offensive coordinator are worried about it.
"[Jameis is] fine," Arians said following Friday's practice. "He threw fine. Yeah, he's ready to go."
Tampa Bay got some unexpected news when defensive lineman Beau Allen was ruled out for Sunday's game after suffering an ankle injury late in Thursday's practice, though. Along with him, wide receiver Mike Evans and outside linebacker Anthony Nelson have also been ruled out. Left tackle Donovan Smith missed practice for the third-straight day on Friday and has an official status of 'doubtful' as a result, though Arians said he would be a game-time decision in Detroit. Guard Alex Cappa, along with Winston, is officially listed as questionable but Arians also said he expects Cappa to play.
The Bucs will get wide receiver Scotty Miller back in the lineup to try to minimize the effect of Evans' absence to the offense, too.
Detroit will be without five players and could potentially be without running back Bo Scarbrough, who is officially listed as questionable. Defensive tackle John Atkins was added to the injury report on Friday with an illness and has also been listed as questionable for Sunday's game.
