The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today signed wide receiver Cephus Johnson.
Johnson (6-5, 220) appeared in 45 career games between the University of South Alabama (2018-19) and Southeastern Louisiana University (2020-22), playing quarterback and completing 236-of-409 attempts for 2,763 yards and 20 touchdowns. He added 274 carries for 1,461 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns, plus seven receptions for 83 yards and two receiving touchdowns. As a senior in 2022, Johnson established career highs in completions (138), passing yards (1,527), passing touchdowns (10), carries (104), rushing yards (651), and rushing touchdowns (eight). The Mobile, Alabama, native originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Minnesota Vikings on May 1, 2023.
In addition, the Buccaneers waived defensive back Duron Lowe.
