The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have signed defensive back Akeem Davis and center Ben Gottschalk to the practice squad. There was a spot available due to offensive lineman Ryan Groy signing on another team's active roster.

Davis (6-1, 200) re-joins the team, after having spent Week 10 on the Buccaneers' practice squad. In his second NFL season, Davis has played in 15 career games, notching one tackle, one forced fumble and 12 special teams tackles. He originally entered the NFL as a college free agent with the Washington Redskins in 2014, spending the season between the team's practice squad and active roster. This past offseason, he was with Washington, before being waived prior to Week 1 and joining the New Orleans Saints' practice squad and being promoted to the active roster for two games. Davis, who played collegiately at Memphis, will wear No. 35 for Tampa Bay.

Gottschalk (6-5, 293) originally entered the league as a college free agent out of SMU and spent the 2014 offseason and preseason with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was also on the team's practice squad during Week 1 of the regular season. Gottschalk spent this past offseason with Tampa Bay and the San Francisco 49ers.
